We pugged one time during euro hours and played Kefi Palkari. After winning, and noticing not many champ pt guilds were still playing, we switched to another champ pt guild and played Kefi again. And we did it 2 more times for 4 champ pts. So, pug/smurfing is pretty awesome imo.

we do quite alot gvg, but i didn't see any smurfs around, the guilds with people that aren't good get beaten too by bad guilds, so it woulnd't matter though.

Smurfing is lame dude. In Rts we call it Rank Bashing. its lame on here because ranks dont reset so this is a constant problem "high rank" guilds dont want to lose precious rank on new builds so they roll new guilds even with gimmick builds. GvG isnt easy to pick up. Lucky for me im doing fine but i spend loads of time learning everything. It is discouraging to play a smurf guild 1/3 games. I dont mind sometimes because we can hold our own. but its still lame whoever makes excuses is full of it. use your real guild dont be scared to lose your precious points.....but in your point of view theirs dont matter because there "NEW"

If low ranked guilds care so much about their "precious points" they will play better and get more of them.

The low rank gulds dont care about points, they care cause smurfing raises the learning curve for them much higher than it would be otherwise.

Exactly.
You can only train so much in guild skirmishes before you have to fight other opponents. Thinking you have got an equal match only to get rolled in 4 mins cause it's a smurf guild for a high rank is pure BS.

The only thing that becomes a problem with smurfs is when they AT, other than that it's healthy for the game. More smurfs = more guilds playing = faster matches = more champ points = more fun.

Formulating a working strategy requires figuring out what doesn't work, and figuring out what does. Steamrolling a garbage team will not give you the first. Getting steamrolled by a team far out of your league will not give you the second.
Getting opponents you can viably beat is a more educational experience than getting stomped.

Nah not really I've came a long way from the bottom and playing against top guilds in the old times (Te, EP, IVEX yadayada) was an awesome learning experience. Now I'm not gonna lie, I didn't like losing rating to pugs and stuff but it was a great way to get the hang of the game.
Bottom line: Deal with it till you're good enough to beat them.

BS only the people who say its okay are people who play in smurfs. No one wants to get rolled all day by smurfs. They should stay on there real guild and fight there own league guilds. Some people say I smurf for fast games......your just creating more problem then fixing. If high ranked guilds never smurfed then you wouldnt have the problem of waiting. The simple fact is they like noob bashing plain and simple even if you dont want to admit it.
Its okay to play them here and there but not all the time. Its so annoying if anet is gonna allow this to go on there should be ladder rests every month.

Unless you are complete shit, like most of the people whining in this thread are.
If that's the case, you won't get smarter, but start a thread on GWguru.

At rank 7, looking at our guild history in the past 7 ladder games, we fought 3 guilds that are rank 100-200, and 4 guilds that are rank 1000+ or n/a (which were all +0s). The matter of the fact is, even if we're staying in our guild, we're not fighting guilds in the top 50 simply because there aren't any that are playing at the time. So in that case, why not switch to a smurf that's rank 200ish so we can get matches more quickly? Regardless of which guild we play on, we'll still be playing the same bad guilds that are rank 1000+. I'm sure a lot of people share the same mentality.
Plus, a lot of the people use smurfs to test builds that they aren't certain of. Maybe they don't want it seen on TV, or maybe they aren't confident they'll be able to run it at the same level of their actual rank, but there are more reasons to smurfing than just "lol I want to pwn bad guilds."

In my experience, newbie guilds will get rolled by a r1000 “fingernails clawing the bottomed of the ladder” guild just as hard as by a r950 smurf of an r30. They don’t know how to pre-prot yet, or who. They don’t know what to shutdown, or how. They don’t know how to spike, what VENTRILO is in more than a few cases, how to split, how to run flags…the list goes on.
Newbie guilds blow up to any experienced guild with an ounce of talent. That’s the nature of PvP.
Most experienced players know that they’ve been “smurfed”. I hate to break it to the smurf haters, but there is really nothing Anet can do about it. Even if the Ops suggestion or something like it were implemented, it would only push top ranked players off their main accounts. Most smurfers have multiple accounts, and if they don’t they come ready made with pvp unlocks: quick, cheap and easy. Most of the folks I knew smurfed on their main to farm some champ points, show off a little when helping out a friends guild, or be easy to find when joining a PuG.
Ultimately, smurfing isn’t as much the problem as it is a symptom. GvGers can’t play their game in their guild, so they go find another. Who’d’a’thunk that’d happen???0.o

No there wouldn't. Seriously, if you don't know what you're talking about, stop posting your theorycrafting. There are only so many high ranked guilds at American times, and from what I know, none of them have their entire team on to play. What happens is that they make alliance/friends pugs to play in, or they just go out and guest for some other guilds. The only guild that plays on a smurf with their entire roster on most of the time is rawr, and even then their smurf is top 100 so it would have the same impact on bad guilds as if they played on their primary guild.
